Integrating farmers into groups
In order to improve the coffee quality and yield it is a prerequisite for farmers to adopt good agricultural practices. Often, farmers lack knowledge and experience on the application of these good agricultural practices. Bufcoffee took the initiative to increase awareness of these practices among farmers.
Due to a large number of farmers working with Bufcoffee, it could be very costly and inefficient to teach and mentor each farmer individually. On the other hand, grouping farmers based on their farms location is a good strategy to train, mentor, and supervise these farmers. Since the 13th March 2017, Bufcoffee team has been integrating these farmers into groups. Until now, 1206 farmers have been already integrated into 30 groups.
These groups will also improve Bufcoffee trace-ability system as each farmers’ group coffee will be processed and marketed separately
